ICT-Park Ready to Cooperate with Kharazmi University

Dr. Azizullah Habibi, President of Kharazmi University, attended ICT Park, as the Head of a delegation, which included the College and Research centers’ Presidents and academic faculty members, meeting was held on Monday.

In this meeting with Dr. Mohammad Jafar Sadigh Damghanizadeh, the president of ICT Park, Dr. Habibi appraised the park’s activities as well as the development and growth stages of the Techno-Companies in the park.

At the start  of the meeting, Dr. Habibi, referring to the situation and location of Kharazmi University with its two branches in Tehran and Alborz provinces, presented a report on the university’s activities with regards to the launching of Development Centers in Tehran and Karaj (Alborz province).

He then called for cooperation with ICT Park as well as using the Park’s experiences in the domain of ICT and the expansion of the techno-units.

Dr. Sadigh Damghanizadeh, the president of ICT Park, welcomed the guests and stated that the park, was the first National and Specialized Park in the field of ICT,  ready to cooperate with all universities, particularly in the field of development and expansion of the growth centers.

Regarding the importance of the Parks and their support for companies, Dr. Sadigh Damghanizadeh further added: “Investigation and Scientific Researches can be done to a certain extent at the university, but after that, the research should be assigned to the private sector, as supporting the private sector will eventually lead us to market and profit”.

He then addressed the importance of entrepreneurship at the university and continued: “an entrepreneur university is the one which has technological companies graduating from it, in addition to its graduates”.

He added: “an entrepreneur university should be measured and evaluated by the number of its registered companies. Once a university becomes an entrepreneur university, we need to provide the necessary measures at the university. A part of these tools are the guidelines and regulations, in favor of all members of our academic board in the technology companies founded by themselves and their universities.”

Referring to the positive and negative aspects of the establishment of University Parks, he further stated: “this is not necessarily a good or bad thing, as the Park needs to have its own specialization and techniques and not everyone is capable of doing this. But a possibly positive outcome is the collaboration and participation of universities with the Urban Parks that concern most of our interest. However, if it is decided to establish a University Park, it’s of great importance that the Park is established in the premises of the university itself, so that it can be accessible to the students.”

He further added: “we also encourage  universities to create  Growth and Innovation Centers because it can play an effective role in becoming an entrepreneur body.”

Finally, referring to the diverse experiences and achievements of ICT Park including the Tad Network, the Center of the Development of Technology-based Units, as well as the capabilities of the ICT Park’s Mashhad Branch, Dr. Sadigh Damghanizadeh announced his readiness for cooperating with Kharazmi University within the framework of a bilateral agreement.

At the end of this visit, the Chancellor of Kharazmi University, along with the accompanying delegation, visited the reconstruction and development stages of the different parts of the Park, in addition to the companies located in the Park and their products.
