In a Ceremony at ICT Park;
A Comprehensive Energy Consultation Contract Was Signed Regarding Iran's Communication and Information Technology Sector
At the start of this meeting, Dr. Mohammad Jafar Sadigh Damghanizadeh, the Advisor to the Minister and the President of ICT Park, welcomed the guests and mentioned the National Information Network to be a major national concern: "Apart from the fact that the National Information Network is a serious agenda in this government, it has also a great significance in terms of economy. The National Information Network means money, wealth and service, and the one thing that has no significance in this regard is the political debates surrounding the issue," he said.
"The capacity of the World Information Network is 5,000 billion dollars, which means 50 billion dollars or 2,500 billion tomans of it is Iran's share of this global network regarding Iran's population which consists one percent of the whole world population. This amount can create full-time jobs for 20% of Iranian households and is considered one of the best ways to escape from the challenges caused by the sanctions," he added.
Then, the advisor to the Minister of Ministry of Information and Communications Technology explained other features of the National Information Network: "The establishment of the National Information Network means producing content inside the country and introducing it. Hence, anyone in the world who aims to use this content should connect our data centers; a feature that no other industry has yet secured. Another significant feature of this network is that if the national information network gets loaded right today, it will be out of order the next day. The reason for this issue is that, just like the steel industry, the national information network needs a great amount of electricity; hence, it will even affect the home power network that includes charging phones, laptops, and other similar devices. Therefore, the urgency of providing electricity for the national information network led us to implement this project jointly with Monenco," he added.
Then, Dr. Hatamian, the Director-General of the Economic Research Office in Iran's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, thanked Monenco Iran for choosing this project: "This is a challenging task for us, but hopefully, with the technical knowledge and internal monitoring system of Monenco Company, we will proceed this project successfully," he added.
In another part of this meeting, Eng. Kaveh Zahabi, the CEO of Monenko Iran, thanked ICT Park for putting their trust in this company: "In the past two decades, the electric power industry in our country has experienced many ups and downs. In the past, the government invested a lot to build state-owned power plants, so production was somehow government-based and investments were also made. From some point on, neither the government could afford this expense, nor did the new policies allow the government to invest in the electric power industry as in the past; therefore, the private sector undertook part of the work," he said.
It is worth mentioning that in this meeting for signing the comprehensive energy consultation contract regarding Iran's communication and information technology sector, Dr. Sadigh Damghanizadeh, the Advisor to the Minister and the President of ICT Park; Dr. Hatamian, the director-general of the Economic Research Office in Iran's Ministry of Information and Communications Technology; Dr. Hafizi, the Deputy of ICT Park’s Human Capital Development and Resource Management; Ms. Mohebekhah, the deputy of the Economic Research Office in Iran's Ministry of Communications; Eng. Kaveh Zahabi, the CEO of Monenko Iran, and Mr. Rezaei, the Director of ICT Park's Technical and Civil Affairs Office were present.
