Director-General of Alborz Power Department Visitsed ICT Park

"ICT Park is one of the main poles of science and technology development in Alborz province where the motto is 'Alborz, the Province of Science and Technology,'" said Dr. Mohammad Jafar Sedigh Damghanizadeh, the President of Information and Communication Technology Park, at the beginning of the meeting and after greeting the visitors. “Besides benefiting from active software operations in 22 provinces, which support research activities in provincial parks, ICT Park has numerous branches in Alborz, Semnan, Mashhad, and also Sari (the latter is still under construction),” he continued.

While mentioning and introducing the other parks around the world, Dr. Sadigh Damghanizadeh said that the great mission of ICT Park is providing economic development and technology deepening for the associated companies with the aim of increasing their competitiveness. "Hence, in this regard, the parks could be considered as the new generation of research institutes in which instead of civil servants, the researchers work in the private sector and pursue their studies. In other words, the outcome of the parks' proper operations will be economic development based on technology development, playing a significant role in the localization of technology and completing the value chain, and increasing the number and size of the associated companies and their reliance on local technologies".

He considered the most important difference between ICT Park and other technology parks in the "functionality of ICT Park", "Other parks merely deal with market demands; however, ICT Park is responsible for producing and supplying goods for the market. In other words, ICT Park mainly hosts developed companies with significant products; hence, it is not a start-up park,” he clarified.

Hassan Karimi, the Director-General of Alborz Power Department, appreciated ICT Park's invitation to introduce the park's activities: "The future of the world's energy depends on electricity, and its current power is tangible in the lives of all human beings. In the following years, the demands for electricity will multiply as cars and many different products will shift from gasoline to electricity {…}. Although we currently have the free potential power of wind and solar energy, we produce power from the non-renewable capitals of oil and gas, with an efficiency of 30%. This is one of the fields where science and technology parks can appear cooperative,” he clarified.

"One of the issues that have been raised globally, and Iran has also taken measures for its implementation is the production of smart electricity meters. In the near future, establishing a permanent and online connection between the Power Department and these meters in different parts of the country will be a necessity. About 600,000 to 700,000 power meters (1.5 million users) need to be converted to smart meters in the near future. Accordingly, the intellectual elites in the country could manage controlling the electricity meters through modems for data exchanges and online communications, and successfully provided the visibility and controllability of their users; however, these elites need support for getting into the market. With regard to the explanations presented for introducing ICT Park, I hope we can help advance the Park's prospects,” added the Director-General of the Alborz Power Department.

In the end, the parties decided on reviewing the demands for increasing the power input of ICT Park and supporting the knowledge-based company that produces smart electricity meters.

It should be noted that in this meeting, besides Dr. Mohammad Jafar Sadigh Damghanizadeh, the Advisor to the Minister and the President of ICT Park; Javad Yazdanpanah, the Deputy of ICT Park’s Technology Development; Eng. Ahmad Rezaei, the Director of ICT Park’s Technical and Urban Services Office; Touraj Ghanbari, the advisor for ICT Park's Constructions; Hassan Karimi, the Director-General of Alborz Power Department; Mr. Bahrami, the Head of Alborz Power Users Services; Mr. Khademi, the Head of Power Department in the Eastern Region of Alborz, and Mr. Pouya Khankeshipour, the Expert conductor for ICT Park's facilities and civil affairs, were also present.
