At the outset of this meeting, Eng. Akbar Ghanbarpour, Advisor to Minister and Acting President of ICT Park, welcomed the CEOs of the member companies and other colleagues in ICT Park's various headquarters. While expressing his satisfaction with holding this meeting, he also mentioned the history of Techno Parks in Iran and the need to pay further attention to the potential significance of these Parks in Iran's technology community: "Techno Parks have a legacy of 20 years in our country; therefore, compared to other institutions that were established for developing technology in Iran, Techno Parks have a more prominent history. Considering the significance of this point in the third decade of the Parks' establishment in our country, we need to know the original goals for which Techno Parks were established and learn about the potential significance that they offer to Iranian technology community," he mentioned.
"There are many different responses regarding the potential significance of Techno Parks, especially in the case of specialized Parks. For instance, those Parks established with a public approach in a certain province act as supportive forces that provide facilitation for knowledge-based companies. Additionally, those Parks with business approaches operate in Iran with the aim of helping all kinds of businesses, especially technology-oriented ones," continued Advisor to the Minister and Acting President of ICT Park
Ghanbarpour also mentioned the establishment of new specialized Parks in Iran and their dependence on the organizations that have established the Park: “At least 4 specialized Parks have been established in our country under the supervision provided by different ministries, including the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Petroleum, the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology. It is crucial to know the necessity of establishing a specialized Park in the field of ICT under the supervision of Iran's Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and its potential significance despite the existence of numerous other Parks in the country. The main issue in establishing specialized Technology Parks is their requirements for industrial support which can be provided by the supervising ministry. In fact, the associated ministry has the authority to direct and regulate the whole process; therefore, the activities and programs of the intended specialized Parks and their member companies that are supported by the supervising ministry should also be focused on the needs and priorities of this ministry," he clarified.
"Today, we are dealing with huge projects in our country. The Ministry's expectations from us, are reflected in our expectations from the member companies; hence, the member companies' expectation from us is that the major projects defined in the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, and also the existing ICT requirements in the country should be provided for by the member companies in ICT Park. Follows this approach, ICT Park requested the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology to employ the engineering and production capabilities of the companies associated with ICT Park," he continued.
The Adviser to the Minister and Acting President of ICT Park, also referred to the synergy of the existing potentials in ICT Park's companies: "Currently, FTTH is the super project of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and many Iranian operators who are active in this field have the tendency to use national potentials; however, unfortunately, in terms of the quantity, our national capacity is not enough to meet the existing demands in the country. Therefore, the best approach includes synergizing the available technology and knowledge within these companies," he added.
"Today, our expectation from a Technology Park which is in its third decade of operation is to aim for meeting the existing demands in the country and to further empower its associated companies. The main part of synergizing these potentials includes technology and business, and another part can be defined in line with solving the internal problems and overcoming the specific challenges of the Park. These are among our main goals for holding regular meetings," mentioned Eng. Akbar Ghanbarpour at the end.
Later in this meeting, which was held in the presence of ICT Park's manager, Dr. Sadeghi, CEO of Shahid Beheshti University's Research and Technology Fund, introduced the services provided through this Fund with the aim of supporting businesses and active individuals in Iran's technology ecosystem.
The meeting concluded with a Q & A session between the companies and the Acting President of ICT Park regarding many different issues in the Park, including the need for accelerators to become members of the Park and the possibility of providing them with some legal privileges, such as tax exemptions. Additional topics were also raised ranging from speeding up the process of solving issues related to the development of the Park's infrastructure to the problems related to space limitations in different companies, and the consequences of human force migration.
