On the sidelines of this exhibition, Dr. Eisa Zarepour, Minister of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), discussed the design and development process of the National Information Network in the past few years, announcing that this network has progressed by 64%: "National Information Network, is a high-speed network of high quality and safety, extended throughout Iran with the goal of meeting the needs of individuals in many different fields. This network had a 23% improvement when the current government started working, and has reached 64% improvement in less than 2 years," he pointed out.
The Minister of Information and Communications Technology also mentioned the problems and deficiencies of Iran's communication infrastructure: "The basic solution for this problem is developing fiber optics for homes and businesses. The implementation of the project started a year ago after establishing the required infrastructure. So far, it has been developed in 100 cities, providing up to 900 Mbps speed internet to people," he clarified.
"Necessary plans have been made to cover all the cities in Iran by 1404 SH. Also, according to Iran's Seventh Development Plan, all buildings in the country should be provided with fiber optics by 1407 SH," he said.
He also mentioned the development of rural communications in 5500 villages during Iran's 13th governmental administration: "We need these communications to provide all the Iranians with different services based on information technology,” he said.
The Minister of Information and Communications Technology considered doubled to tripled domestic traffic production as another significant achievement during this period: "During this governmental administration, domestic traffic exchange reached 6.5 terabits per second; hence, the record of domestic traffic production was broken," he noted.
In the end, Dr. Zarepour presented a report on the latest state in the realization of the smart government: "Our objective is providing people with accessible options to benefit government’s services through an icon on their phones 24/7 without presenting any certificates. According to Iran’s 7th Development Plan, all public and governmental institutions are obliged to provide all their services to the Iranians through smart platforms.
It is worth mentioning that on behalf of ICT Park, Ms. Mina Rasti, ICT Park's Expert in Public Relations and International Affairs, and Ms. Nasrin Azimi, ICT Park's Expert in ICT Park’s Techno-units’ Development Center, attended this exhibition.
